Our Curriculum

Thinking Schools Academy Trust curriculum intent statement:

At Thinking Schools Academy Trust our mission is to transform life chances.

Every young person in our community deserves to have the best opportunities at life regardless of their individual circumstances.

Education is the key to transforming life chances and we support and develop every member of our community to:

  • Think about their Thinking
  • Be their best self
  • Shape their success

In this way, Thinking Schools Academy Trust transforms life chances.

What makes our Trust unique is our consistency in the embedded use of metacognitive tools within our curriculum design. To achieve this consistency in approach every school in our Trust is working towards accreditation as a Thinking or an Advanced Thinking School by Exeter University.

We provide ‘thinking toolkits’ to enable our students to approach learning in different ways. They encourage flexibility, creativity and critical thinking. Each student will develop habits of persistence, striving for accuracy, and innovation as well as understanding how to be an engaged citizen ready for the modern world around them.

Our Academy offers a broad and balanced curriculum which is both challenging and stimulating, enabling students to accelerate, aspire and achieve. All students in years 7, 8 and 9 will follow the National Curriculum and in years 10 and 11 they will have a range of GCSE and vocational qualifications which they can choose to study.
