Why Maritime Academy?
An exciting new opportunity founded upon the belief of thinking differently. Maritime Academy will ‘make learning irresistible’ by keeping students passionate about learning.
Maritime Academy is the newest member to the family of Thinking Schools Academy Trust, and here at our Trust we place ‘thinking’ at the heart of all that we do, we actively encourage our young adults to use their voices and to always question; in this we create life-long learners.
Medway is a growing area with the secondary schools’ admissions predicted to expand by 3,000 pupils by 2024. Maritime Academy will be a 1,150 place secondary school and provide places for 900 secondary pupils aged 11 to 16 years and 250 sixth form pupils.
While they may be one of 1,150 students, we know that your child is magnificent in their individuality and, like every child is unique, so too is their journey through education, a journey which our school pastoral care will make with them. Supporting you and your child with their wellbeing and mental health will be of utmost importance at Maritime Academy.
Another exciting aspect of being part of Thinking Schools Academy Trust is the ‘we are one’ mind-set which supports and allows us to guide our students through life with a huge array or resources and information at our fingertips, shared between our family of schools, ensuring that you are updated regularly. Dedication to open communication with parents creates an equal partnership in educating our next generation.
CHILD ALREADY ATTENDS A THINKING SCHOOLS ACADEMY TRUST PRIMARY SCHOOL?
If your child already attends a partnered primary school the transition to Maritime Academy will be seamless. Habits and familiarity is important to achieve this therefore the use of shared systems that will move with your child from primary to secondary, systems such as MyEd, Parent Pay and Microsoft Login, will be a firm familiar that should make this typically stressful process a little easier for both parent and student. One less new thing to learn as you and your child navigate this exciting new milestone.
Feedback from you, our community, is essential to ensure we are creating an effective and useful school environment. We would love to hear your thoughts on the plans for the building and strongly encourage you to help us to hear you and involve you in this exciting journey.
